How To Get There

From Scotland

For those of you in lovely Scotland, it appears that there are no direct flights between Edinburgh/Glasgow and Naples. It may be easier, and cheaper therefore to fly to London and then to fly to Naples. Easyjet and BA (and others) fly between London and Naples so there is more choice. An alternative may be to fly to Rome from Edinburgh or Glasgow and go on to Naples/Sorrento by train. As an example, Edinburgh to Rome and Glasgow to Rome for a random choosing of dates (12/07 to 15/07 is £169 return).

Getting from Naples Airport to Sorrento

By train

By train you can get the Circumvesuviana from Naples Central station to Sorrento. It takes about an hour. Sorrento is the last stop. You will still have to get to Naples Central station from the airport though. This is how you do that:

ANM buses (ligne 3S) (tel: 800 639 525; website: www.anm.it) run to Napoli Centrale railway station. Alibus shuttle buses (website: www.alibus.it) also run to Napoli Centrale railway station and then to Piazza Municipio in the centre of Naples.

By bus

The other option is to get the bus directly from the Airport to Sorrento town centre. Times and bookings can be made via the following website which is in English: www.curreriviaggi.it

It is better to click on Bus Routes (and select between Naples Airport and Sorrento) rather than on Shuttle as it appears to be cheaper. For example, the bus journey costs 10 euro and the shuttle for between 1/3 people is 80 euro. The buses seem to take 1h15 to get to Sorrento and leave every 2 hours. There may of course be other ways to get between Airport and Sorrento. Please let me know if you find that the site doesn't work or something isn't right so that I can tell everyone else.
